Steps

  1. Drop the client's workbook on the project Vault and upload it.
  2. Open a takeoff sheet and click Import spreadsheet. Choose the workbook; the workbook picker shows the whole spreadsheet.
  3. Name the sheet the import will create, check the columns marked as description, unit and quantity (fix them if the guess is wrong), tick the rows (tick-all takes the tab; shift-click extends a range) and click Import. Rows without a number arrive as named GAP lines.
  4. Click Measure on the drawings. Measure as in Part 11, tick the measurement in the Takeoff library, open the Bill lines dock (\, drag its top edge for room) and click Add on the line it belongs to. The quantity arrives with its working, and one measurement can feed several lines. Units are checked: an area cannot feed a linear-foot line.
  5. Back on the sheet the lines carry VEC quantities. Confirm each and Push to estimate.
  6. Quick alternative: the digitiser dock's own Import Excel turns each row of a simple list into a bill line without the picker.
Imports never invent a quantity A row without a number arrives as a named GAP with its reason. Fill it by measuring, or type the figure yourself; either way it is recorded as yours.
