Using multipliers

Every build-up line carries four calculation factors. They let a template read the way the data sheet does — two layers, sixty feet per gallon, three percent for slope — instead of one opaque decimal.

The formula

  1. Net quantity = Qty per unit × Multiply By A × Multiply By B ÷ Divide By. All three factors default to 1.
  2. Divide By is for coverage: adhesive at 60 SF per gallon is Qty 1, Divide By 60.
  3. Multiply By A is for repeats: two layers of insulation is Multiply By A = 2.
  4. Multiply By B is a second, independent factor for something you want kept visible — a slope or lap allowance such as 1.03.
  5. Waste is separate: it comes from the resource's Waste %, applies to material lines only, and is added after the factors.
  6. The same columns appear on every build-up line inside an estimate, so a factor set in the template carries through and can still be adjusted for one job.
