Part 02 · Setup

Setting up your company

Done once, by an administrator. Your company details and logo print on every document; the estimating defaults decide what a new estimate starts with; the vocabulary is the words your projects are filed under.

Steps

  1. Sign in and open Settings in the top bar (administrators only). It opens on the Company tab.
  2. Fill in Legal company name, an optional Trading name, the Address (line breaks are kept as typed), Phone, Email and Website. Registration numbers are optional. Click Save changes.
  3. Below, choose a PNG or JPEG and click Upload logo. It prints on PDF covers, spreadsheet headers and RFQ letterheads.
  4. On the Estimating tab set the Default markup: markup on cost, a true margin, or a fixed margin tier. Set the default overhead and bond percentages and the default currency. Save.
  5. On the Vocabulary tab add at least one Market — every project needs one — and any Code flags you want as tick-boxes on the project form. Save.
  6. On the Users tab invite colleagues with a name, email and role (Viewer, Estimator or Administrator). Tick Give them a seat straight away and click Send invite.
Worth knowing Sales tax is not a company setting. It belongs to each price database (the gear beside the database on the Databases page), because a database knows its region.
