Create a takeoff sheet, measure areas, lengths and counts on the drawing, build bill lines from the measurements, confirm them and push them onto the estimate.

Steps

  1. On the project page click New takeoff, name it, keep the output mode on Tag to templates, and create it. The sheet opens.
  2. Quantities you type into the bottom row are tagged MANUAL and are confirmed as you enter them. For measured quantities click Measure on the drawings.
  3. In the Plans rail tick the drawing set to load it and click a page thumbnail. If the sheet's scale was not read from the title block, type it in the amber bar (1/16" = 1'-0") and Set scale, or Calibrate on a known dimension.
  4. Pick a tool in Measure: Area (click the corners, click the first point to close), Polyline (click, then Enter), Line, Count (one click = one). Name each measurement and Save.
  5. In the Takeoff library on the right tick the measurements, then in the Bill lines dock (\) type a description and Build line. Add on an existing line attaches more measurements to it.
  6. Back on the sheet the lines carry the VEC tag with the working shown. Click Confirm on each, then Push to estimate, choose the estimate and section, and push.
Every number carries its origin VEC means measured from the drawing's geometry at the sheet's scale. Nothing reaches an estimate until you have read it and clicked Confirm.
